How this is calculated
A TRN issued by the Federal Tax Authority is 15 digits and starts with 100. Spaces, dashes and Arabic-Indic digits are allowed and tidied first. The authority publishes no check-digit rule, so only the format can be checked. To confirm a registration, use the TRN verification service on the authority's website.
A format check, not proof of identity or registration. It does not look anything up in a government record.
Valid format: 15 digits starting with 100. Shares and copies show the last 4 digits only.
How it works
- Paste the TRN. Spaces, dashes and Arabic-Indic digits are fine.
- Rule: a VAT TRN issued by the Federal Tax Authority has 15 digits and starts with 100.
- We check the digits, the length and the first three digits, and tell you exactly what is wrong if it fails.
- When you share or copy the result, the TRN shows only its last 4 digits.

Questions
How many digits does a UAE TRN have?
15 digits, starting with 100. A number with 14 or 16 digits, or a different start, has a typo. A format check only, not tax advice.
Does a valid format mean the business is registered?
No. The Federal Tax Authority publishes no check digit, so we can only check the format. To confirm a registration and the business name, use the TRN verification service on the FTA website.
Why does a TRN matter on an invoice?
A UAE tax invoice must show the supplier's TRN, and the buyer's where the buyer is registered. A wrong TRN can cause problems when the invoice is checked. Check your case with a qualified adviser.
Why is the TRN masked when I share?
To keep the full number private. The person you share with sees the verdict and the last 4 digits, which is enough to match it to the right supplier.
Where does the TRN go?
