How it works

  1. Rule: ZATCA's e-invoicing guidelines set five fields for the Phase 1 QR code: seller name, VAT registration number, invoice date and time, total with VAT, and VAT total.
  2. Enter the five details. The VAT number has 15 digits starting and ending with 3; the date and time use ISO 8601, such as 2026-10-09T14:30:00Z.
  3. Each field is stored as a tag, a length and the text (TLV), joined together and Base64 encoded. That text is what the QR code holds.
  4. Check the scan test, which reads the content back field by field, then copy the content into your invoice.

Questions

Which invoices need this QR code?

Simplified tax invoices in Saudi Arabia, the kind issued to consumers, must carry a QR code. ZATCA's rules set what it contains. A format helper only; check your case with a qualified adviser.

Does this work for Phase 2 (integration)?

No. Businesses in ZATCA's integration phase need the QR code produced by their compliant e-invoicing system, which adds a digital signature and other fields. This tool makes the Phase 1 format with five fields.

Why must the total include VAT?

The fourth field is the invoice total with VAT, and the fifth is the VAT amount alone. The tool stops you if the VAT is larger than the total. Rules change, so check with a qualified adviser.

Can the seller name be in Arabic?

Yes. Arabic and English both work. The name is stored in UTF-8, and each field can hold up to 255 bytes.

Where do the invoice details go?

Runs in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you share it.
